Highly praised for his warm, fluid baritone voice and his profound interpretations, Matthias Goerne is widely considered the greatest lieder singer of his generation.  Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes has achieved similar renown; he has been described by the New York Times as “a pianist of magisterial elegance, power, and insight.”  Together they will collaborate on evening of songs by Mahler and Shostakovich that they have performed to audience and critical acclaim at the Salzburg Festival and at other major international festivals and recital series.
